Cold Wind and Rainclouds
 [ both lines x2 ]
Cold wind and rainclouds came swaying
Carrying love, swinging laughter, life spun and danced
[both lines x2]
I was sitting quietly, picking in this manner the blossom of my heart
This word my heart said, I could not listen and stay
As I left,
As I left, my heart swayed some more and spoke
Carrying love, swinging laughter, life spun and danced
Cold wind and rainclouds came swaying
Carrying love, swinging laughter, life spun and danced
Today I became shy upon seeing my own figure
Who knows what I was thinking, but I suddenly laughed
It fell down
My lock fell down and kissed my lips
Carrying love, swinging laughter, life spun and danced
Cold wind and rainclouds came swaying
Carrying love, swinging laughter, life spun and danced
Every string of my heart vibrated and started to tune a melody.
Eyes fully kohl-lined, I set out having become a beautiful woman
Someone tell
Someone please tell: let the rainclouds rain swinging today!
Carrying love, swinging laughter, life spun and danced
 [ both lines x2 ]
Cold wind and rainclouds came swaying

ThaNDii havaa, kaalii ghaTaa (Hindi: ठंडी हवा, काली घटा, Urdu: ٹھنڈی ہوا, کالی گھٹا) "Cold Wind and Black Clouds", is a song from the 1955 Indian film "Mr. and Mrs. '55".

The song is about a girl who celebrates being in love.

The main female character in the movie, Anita (played by the Indian actress Madhubala) is infatuated with Ramesh, a famous tennis player.

When she learns that she is about to inherit a fortune, and that being married is a condition for her to inherit, she assumes that the best solution is to marry Ramesh immediately.

The song is played while she walks by a poolside where Ramesh is swimming at the moment, planning to elicit a marriage proposal from him.

The theme of clouds "raining affection" on a previously thirsty, parched lover is a constant in Hindustani poetry.

The word ghaTaa used in the title means "raincloud", but also a thick mass of dark clouds, so it can be translated as the plural "rainclouds".

All songs in the movie, including "Thandi Hawa Kali Ghata", were written by the Urdu poet and Bollywood lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri, and their music was composed by the Indian music director and composer O.P.Nayyar.

The playback singer is the famous Bollywood singer Geeta Dutt, who was also the wife of Guru Dutt, the movie protagonist and director.
