qadam qadam baRhaae jaa
xushii ke giit gae jaa
ye zindagii hai qaum kii
tuu qaum pe luTaae jaa
Keep advancing step by step
keep singing songs of joy
This life of yours belongs to the people,
spend it for the people!
tuu sher-e-hind aage baRh
marne se tuu kabhii na Dar
uRaa ke dushmnoN kaa sar
josh-e-vatan baRhaae jaa
You go forward, Lion of India,
don't ever be afraid of death.
Blowing off the enemy's head,
raise the spirits of your nation!
himmat terii baRhtii rahe
xudaa terii suntaa rahe
jo saamne tere khaRe
tuu xaak meN milaae jaa
May your courage keep increasing
May God keep listening to you
Whoever stands opposing you,
make him bite the dust!
chalo dillii pukaar ke
qaumii nishaan sambhaal ke
laal qile pe gaaR ke
lɛhraae jaa lɛhraae jaa
Go, to the shout of "Delhi!"
holding the national emblem,
and planting it on the Red Fort,
let it wave, let it wave!
