saaRii ke phal saa (Hindi: साड़ी के फॉल सा, Urdu: ساڑھی کے فال سا) "Like the Linings of a Sari", is a song from the 2013 Indian action romance film "R... Rajkumar".
The "R..." in the movie title stands for "Romeo" Rajkumar, the name of the male protagonist (played by the Indian actor Shahid Kapoor). In the video clip, he is shown in a singing and dancing scene along with Chanda, the female protagonist (played by the Indian actress Sonakshi Sinha).
Romeo is a lower-echelon drug trafficker trying to make his way up, and Chanda is the educated adoptive daughter of one of the town's main druglords. The video clip represents Romeo's efforts to woo Chanda, and then her falling for his charms.
The word "fall" in the song's title refers to the lining of Souther Asian women's saris, which is allowed to overhang the rims of the dress and it is used to enhance it with combining colors. The falls can be detached from the sari and they are customarily changed according to both the sari's color and the season. In the song, the male singer claims to have been "matched" the same way these linings are.
The video clip was shot at beautiful landscapes of a white-sand desert, a beach, and a manor's front in Gujarat, along with some modern-art-like props and dancers behaving in an apparently erratic way.
One of the dancers traverses the scene with some sort of folk violin, playing the chord melody that characterizes the song.
The song utilizes several Anglicisms (starting with the word "fall" itself, meaning "linings" in this case), and then joining the verb karnaa with English verbs, for example:
match karnaa catch karnaa touch karnaa cut karnaa
The singers of this song were the Indian singer and composer Nakash Aziz and the Bollywood playback singer Antara Mitra.
The music was composed by Pritam Chakraborty (simply known as "Pritam").
The lyrics were written by the Indian screenwriter, lyricist, and actor Mayur Puri.
