First Class

First Class
Touch on each word to display its meaning
 [ First-Class ]
[First-Class]
mere   hoThoN   se   dhuaaNdhaar   nikaltii   haiN   jo   bolii
jaise   jaise   baNduuq   kii   golii
mere   tevar   meN   hai   tahziib   kii   rangiin   rangolii
jaise   jaise   ho   iid   meN   holii
 [ all stanza x2 ]
The smoking words that issue from my lips
are like bullets of a gun
In my stance, there is the sophistication of a colorful rangoli
like Holi in Eid
[all stanza x2]
mere   jiivan   kii   dashaa
thoRaa   raastoN   kaa   nashaa
thoRii   manzil   kii   pyaas   hai
baaqii   sab   [ first-class ]  hai   [ x3 ]
These are the circumstances of my life
There is a little intoxication of the road,
a little thirst of destination
Everything else is first-class [x3]
pal   meN   tolaa ,  pal   meN   maashaa
jaisii   baazii   vaisaa   paasaa
apnii   thoRii   haT   ke   duniyaadaarii   hai
karnaa   kyaa   hai   chaaNdii   sonaa
jitnaa   paanaa   utnaa   khonaa
ham   to   dil   ke   dhaNdhe   ke   byaapaarii   haiN
At moments it is a tola, at moments it is a masha
For like bet, like dice
My mundaneness is a little different
What to do (with) gold and silver?
So much gained, that much lost
I am the merchant of the business of the heart
merii   muskaan   lie   kabhii   aatii   hai   subaH
kabhii   shaameN   udaas   haiN
baaqii   sab   [ first-class ]  hai   [ x3 ]
haaN ,  qasam   se
baaqii   sab   [ first-class ]  hai
For my smile's sake sometimes mornings come
and sometimes evenings are sad
Everything else is first-class [x3]
Yes, I swear!
Everything else is first-class
ho   sab   ke   hoThoN   pe   charchaa   teraa
baNTtaa   galiyoN   meN   parchaa   teraa
yuuN   to   aashiq   haiN   laakhoN   magar
sab   se   uuNchaa   hai   darjaa   teraa
Rumors of yours are on everyone's lips
a (love) letter of yours is distributed in the alleys
There are hundreds of thousands of lovers like that, but
your category is of the highest order of all
merii   taariif   se   chhuptii   phir   badnaamiyaaN   merii
jaise   jaise   ho   aaNkh   michaulii
mere   tevar   meN   hai   tahziib   kii   rangiin   rangolii
jaise   jaise   ho   iid   meN   holii
My scandals hide commendations
like a game of hide-and-seek does
In my stance, there is the sophistication of a colorful rangoli
like Holi in Eid
mere   jiivan   kii   dashaa
thoRaa   raastoN   kaa   nashaa
thoRii   manzil   kii   pyaas   hai
baaqii   sab   [ first-class ]  hai   [ x3 ]
haaN ,  qasam   se
baaqii   sab   [ first-class ]  hai ,
haaN
These are the circumstances of my life
There is a little intoxication of the road,
a little thirst of destination
Everything else is first-class [x3]
Yes, I swear!
Everything else is first-class
Yes!

First Class (in English in the original) is a song from the 2019 Indian period drama film "Kalank".

The movie narrates the story of several characters interrelated by kinship in the city of Lahore in 1946, the times before the Partition of India.

The main characters in the video clip are Zafar, a careless, womanizing Muslim man (interpreted by Varun Dhawan), who starts a relationship with Roop, a Hindu woman (played by Alia Bhatt) who had to agree to a loveless marriage.

Roop is shown practicing dance and classical Indian singing under the supervision of Bahaar Begum, a brothel madam (interpreted by the Indian actress and dancer Madhuri Dixit). Meanwhile, Zafar dances in the streets accompanied by an all-male troupe of dancers, boasting about his carefree lifestyle.

In a later scene, Roop is shown in what seems to be an engagement ceremony with the fiancé, Dev, Dev's father Balraj, and Satya, the former wife of Dev, who had exacted from Roop the promise of marrying Dev because she is dying.

Dev's character is played by the actor Aditya Roy Kapur, Dev's father Baraj is played by the actor and producer Sanjay Balraj Dutt and Satya is interpreted by Sonakshi Sinha; all three are Indian.

Zafar had started his relationship with Roop as an act of vengeance against Baraj because he had abandoned him and his mother after beginning a relationship with Bahaar Begum; Dev is the offspring of that relationship.

The dancing and singing continue as Roop, followed by a troupe of female dancers, joins Zafar and his group, and proclaims her love for him.

Then, Bahaar Begum comes out into the street from the portals of some big residence, and Zafar, upon seeing her, leaves the dance in anger.

This song is interpreted by the singers Arijit Singh for the male parts, and Neeti Mohan for the female parts. It was composed by the famous musical director Pritam. The lyrics were written by the playback singer Amitabh Bhattacharya.
