chaaNd sifaarish

chaaNd sifaarish
Touch on each word to display its meaning
chaaNd   sifaarish
Moon Intercession
subHaan   allaah !  [ x6 ]
Praise God! [x6]
chaaNd   sifaarish   jo   kartaa   hamaarii
detaa   vo   tumko   bataa
sharm-o-Hayaa   pe   parde   giraa   ke
karnii   hai   hamko   xataa
zid   hai   ab   to   hai   xud   ko   miTaanaa
honaa   haiN   tujhmeN   fanaa
If the moon were interceding for me
it would tell you this:
having dropped the veil of modesty
you must do mischief to me.
Now (my) obstinacy is to efface myself
and be extinguished in you
chaaNd   sifaarish   jo   kartaa   hamaarii
detaa   vo   tumko   bataa
sharm-o-Hayaa   pe   parde   giraa   ke
karnii   hai   hamko   xataa
If the moon were interceding for me
it would tell you this
having dropped the veil of modesty
you must do mischief to me.
terii   adaa   bhii   hai   jhoNkevaalii
chhuu   ke   guzar   jaane   de
terii   lachak   hai   ke   jaise   Daalii
dil   meN   utar   jaane   de
aa   jaa   baaNhoN   meN   kar   ke   bahaanaa
honaa   hai   tujhmeN   fanaa
Your grace is quite breeze-like,
let me touch you and pass by
Your elasticity is like a twig,
let it come down into my heart!
Make an excuse and come into my arms,
I must be extinguished in you
chaaNd   sifaarish   jo   kartaa   hamaarii
detaa   vo   tumko   bataa
sharm-o-Hayaa   pe   parde   giraa   ke
karnii   hai   hamko   xataa
If the moon were interceding for me
it would tell you this
having dropped the veil of modesty
you must do mischief to me.
subHaan   allaah !  [ x6 ]
Praise God! [x6]
ai   jo   iraade   bataa   duuN   tumko
sharmaa   hii   jaaogii   tum
dhaRkneN   jo   sunaa   duuN   tumko
ghabraa   hii   jaaogii   tum
hamko   aataa   nahiiN    hai   chhupaanaa
honaa   hai   tujhmeN   fanaa
Ah! If I explained to you my intentions,
you would blush
If I made by heartbeats be heard by (to) you,
you would be alarmed.
I don't know how to conceal
I must be extinguished in you
chaaNd   sifaarish   jo   kartaa   hamaarii
detaa   vo   tumko   bataa
sharm-o-Hayaa   pe   parde   giraa   ke
karnii   hai   hamko   xataa
zid   hai   ab   to   hai   xud   ko   miTaanaa
honaa   haiN   tujhmeN   fanaa
If the moon were interceding for me
it would tell you this
having dropped the veil of modesty
you must do mischief to me.
Now (my) obstinacy is to efface myself

chaaNd sifaarish (Hindi: चाँद सिफ़ारिश, Urdu: چاند سِفارِش) is a song from the 2006 Hindi romantic drama "Fanaa"

The title comes from a verse that goes: "chaaNd sifaarish jo kartaa hamaarii", meaning "If the moon spoke for me" or "If the moon were interceding on my behalf".

The song's title can be translated as "Moon Intercession" or "Moon advice" (the lover is guessing what would happen in the moon spoke to his beloved on his behalf).

The video clip reproduces movie scenes where a tourist guide called Rehan (the Indian actor Aamir Khan) accompanies a group of women throughout several famous Indian touristic destinations, such as Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub Minar.

One of the women, Zony (played by the Indian actress Kajol) is blind, but she can still appreciate ancient buildings and carvings though her tact.

Rehan is in love with her and courts her with his singing, during these outings, grazing her and urging her to overcome her shyness, while Zony is impressed but still reluctant.

In some scenes, a Rehan's fellow tourist guide Balwant (played by the Indian comedic actor Vrajesh Hirjee) does some mock singing.

The song was sung by the Indian playback singers Shantanu Mukherjee (a.k.a "Shaan") and Kailash Kher.

The lyrics were written by the Indian poet, lyricist, and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi.

The music was composed by the Indian director/composer duo of brothers Jatin–Lalit.
