If I acquired your radiance,
I would forget every grief
[both verses x2]
These tears that are flowing,
say, in short, this much:
where are you and where am I?
I am alien here
karam itnaa agar ho ,
ki mujh par ek nazar ho
Such a favor it would be,
if one gaze were upon me
karam itnaa agar ho ,
ki mujh par ek nazar ho
jaan-o-dil vaar duuN maiN ,
zindagii haar duuN maiN
jaise shamaa pe martaa hai parvaanaa
aayaa tere dar par diivaanaa [ x2 ]
Such a favor it would be,
if one gaze were upon me
I shall offer (you) soul and heart
I shall surrender my life
like a moth dies at the flame
Your lover came to your door [x2]
aayaa tere dar par
teraa hii diivaanaa
[ both verses x2 ]
diivaanaa teraa …
[ repeats several times ]
[ with melisma ]
He came to your doorstep,
indeed, your lover
[both verses x 2]
The lover of yours …
[repeats several times]
[with melisma]
aayaa kis

[ several fading repetitions ]
[ with melisma and instruments ]
[ in crescendo and accelerando ]
To what

[several fading repetitions]
[with melisma and instruments]
[in crescendo and accelerando]
ye sitam kaa rivaaj kyuuN hai ?
jaisaa hai ye samaaj . kyuuN hai ?
Why is there a custom of tyranny?
Such is this society. Why is it?
ye duniyaa kii haiN rasmeN ,
maiN huuN ab in ke bas meN .
ye jo duniyaa kii haiN rasmeN ,
maiN huuN ab in ke hii bas meN
These are the world's designs,
I am now under their control.
These are the world's designs,
under whose very control, I am.
na puuchho
kyaa gilaa hai ,
mujhe Gam kyuuN milaa hai .
tumheN maiN kyaa bataauuN ,
moHabbatt jurm hai kyuuN
Don't ask
what this complain is (about),
why grief has met me.
How shall I tell you this,
why affection is a crime
koii rotaa hai kyuuN ,
aisaa hotaa hai kyuuN ,
kyuuN dil se har ek
hai anjaanaa
Why does anyone cry,
why does it happen like that,
why is everyone ignorant
of the heart
aayaa kis
moR pe afsaanaa
[ both verses x2 ]
To what
(this) story has turned! [x4]
[both verses x2]
ye kis maaHaul ,
meN ham haiN ?
xushii ke bhes meN
Gam hai .
kise apnaa kaheN ,
kise begaanaa ?
(What) atmosphere is (this),
in which we are?
Sadness is in disguise
of happiness.
Whom shall we call ours,
whom a stranger?
aayaa kis
moR pe afsaanaa
[ both verses x2 ]
To what
(this) story has turned! [x4]
[both verses x2]

aayaa tere dar par (Hindi: आया तेरे दर पर, Urdu: آیا تیرے در پر) "He Came to Your Doorstep", is the climactic song of the 2004 Bollywood movie drama Veer-Zaara.
In this movie, Veer, an Indian Air Force officer, (played by Shah Ruh Khan) and a Pakistani girl, Zaara (Preity Zinta) fall in love; but they can't pursue their relationship because of social and political impediments.
The song is played when Veer decides to defy conventionalisms and appear at her engagement party, to the astonishment of her fiancé and family members.
Ironically, this happens as a group of singers hired for the ceremony sing "Your Lover Has Come to Your Doorstep", meaning literally Veer, an actual lover, rather than the fiancé.
The music was created by the legendary composer Madan Mohan and used posthumously. The lyrics were written by the poet and screenwriter Javed Akhtar.
The singers in the movie are an actual band , the "Hussain Brothers", led by Ahmed and Mohammed Hussain.
