Touch on each word to display its meaning
You are the blue ocean [x2]
I am a coast of sand [x2]
Take me in your embrace
I am thirsty, lately
[ last 4 lines x2 ]
It is a one-night trade
for a small portion of the moon
should you want to kiss
a little of the moon
[last 4 lines x2]
In a moon's boat
you must go across
You must row softly,
without stirring the waters
[ all stanza x2 ]
Water … water …
gather the rosy stars,
select all
Water … water …
So that you gather all folds
of the body stricken by pains
[all stanza x2]
When the blue sea awakes
embracing the coast
It undulates, and, in passion,
kisses the face of the moon
I, in my chest,
am still filled with your breath
Rolling from side to side, embracing you,
I spend the entirety of the night
Water … water … water … water
[ repeated several times ]
[ mixed with folk tunes ]
From my chest, smoke is rising
Water … water … water … water
What is the smoke writing on the wall?
Slow … slow … slow, the smoke …
the smoke is saying this every time:
Water … water …
[repeated several times]
[mixed with folk tunes]

mayyaa mayyaa (Hindi: मय्या मय्या, Urdu: معيا معيا), in dialectal Arabic; "Water, Water", is a son performed in the 2007 Bollywood biographical drama "Guru".
In the movie, the song is played during a visit of the main character, Guru ( Abishek Bachchan) to Turkey, while he is watching the sensual performance of the dancer Jhumpa (Mallika Sherawat doing an "item number").
The song's composer was A.R. Rahman and the lyricst was Gulzar.
According to the song's Wikipedia page, Rahman claims to have heard the Arabic words "mayya, mayya" during his pilgrimage to Mecca, and then to have asked Gulzar to include those words in the lyrics.
The female playback singers were the Tamil singer Chinmayi, along with the Canada-based Egyptian singer Maryem Tollar for the folk/Arabic-sounding humming parts.
Some small parts in a male voice are sung by Keerthi Sagathia.
