The song has a bossa nova melody composed by Pritam, and the lyrics were written by Ashish Pandit.
The playback singer is Nikhil Paul George
The video clip shows scenes of the movie where Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor), a street-wise young man who is deaf-mute, courts Shruti (Ileana D'Cruz) a rich and sophisticated girl.
In an intermediate scene, the other main protagonist, Jhilmil, an autistic girl (played by Priyanka Chopra) resents people's laughter when she tries to sing the song "My Bonnie" at a party.
