jaag rahii (Hindi: जाग रही, Urdu: جاگ رہی) "I Stay Awake", is a song originally narrated from the point of view of a woman who is complaining about how the love for her absent beloved is keeping her awake.
The lyrics of the original song were written by Zahid Abbas
and the music was composed by Mujahid Hussain.
Arranged to be played at the 2020 at season of the Pakistani musical TV show Coke Studio, this song was interpreted by the singer Fariha Pervez.
In this instance, the song was reworked by the composer Rohail Hyat and the lyricist Asim Raza in order to add a short male counterpart, interpreted by the singer Ali Noor.
In this extra part, a man responds to the woman's lament, stating that he was driven from her side by circumstances beyond his control, and that he acknowledges and shares her feelings.
