chale chalo (Hindi: चले चलो, Urdu: چلے چلو) "Keep moving", or "Keep going", is a song from the 2001 Hindi film "Lagaan".
The song's music was composed by A.R. Rahman, and the lyrics were composed by Javed Akhtar. The playback singers are A.R. Rahman himself and Srinivas (Srinivasan Doraiswamy).
The song is a chant to team building and patriotic resistance. In the movie, a small drought-stricken Gujarati village at the time of the British Raj is extorted "protection" money by the British (these are the taxes or "Lagan" that give the movie its title).
The villagers discover the British the game of cricket, and they make a bet with their commanding officer: if they can master the game and defeat a British team, their "lagaan" will be forgiven for some time, but if they lose, it will be multiplied.
The video clip show scenes of a small team of villagers running with the background of a droughty terrain, physically training, and learning the game, led by the energetic Bhuvan (Aamir Khan).
They run, practice batting, coordination, and pitching, and in the meantime, the village women led by Bhuvan's beloved Gauri (Gracy Singh) artisanally manufacture cricket equipment from whatever materials are available.
