aayaa tere dar par
aayaa tere dar par
Touch on each word to display its meaning
He came at your door
(Those) I have broken
which were mundane bondages
For you,
I have abandoned the world
Your lover came to your door [x2]
He came, yeah, he came
your lover came
Your lover came to your door [x2]
Your lover [x3]
Your lover came to your door [x2]

Your lover / lover
Your lover [x3]
Your lover came to your door [x2]
 [ all stanza x2 ]
This is your very insane,
this is your very enamored,
[both verses x2]
in your love
he has to die!
Your lover came to your door [x2]
 [ both verses x2 ]
If I acquired your radiance,
I would forget every grief
[both verses x2]
These tears that are flowing,
say, in short, this much:
where are you and where am I?
I am alien here
Such a favor it would be,
if one gaze were upon me
Such a favor it would be,
if one gaze were upon me
I shall offer (you) soul and heart
I shall surrender my life
like a moth dies at the flame
Your lover came to your door [x2]
 [ both verses x2 ]
 [ repeats several times ]
 [ with melisma ]
He came to your doorstep,
indeed, your lover
[both verses x 2]
The lover of yours …
[repeats several times]
[with melisma]
 [ several fading repetitions ]
[ with melisma and instruments ]
[ in crescendo and accelerando ]
To what
(this) story has turned! [x4]
[several fading repetitions]
[with melisma and instruments]
[in crescendo and accelerando]
Why is there a custom of tyranny?
Such is this society. Why is it?
These are the world's designs,
I am now under their control.
These are the world's designs,
under whose very control, I am.
Don't ask
what this complain is (about),
why grief has met me.
How shall I tell you this,
why affection is a crime
Why does anyone cry,
why does it happen like that,
why is everyone ignorant
of the heart
 [ both verses x2 ]
To what
(this) story has turned! [x4]
[both verses x2]
(What) atmosphere is (this),
in which we are?
Sadness is in disguise
of happiness.
Whom shall we call ours,
whom a stranger?
 [ both verses x2 ]
To what
(this) story has turned! [x4]
[both verses x2]

 [ repeated several times ]

[repeated several times]

Veer-Zaara (2004)

aayaa tere dar par (Hindi: आया तेरे दर पर, Urdu: آیا تیرے در پر) "He Came to Your Doorstep", is the climactic song of the 2004 Bollywood movie drama Veer-Zaara.

In this movie, Veer, an Indian Air Force officer, (played by Shah Ruh Khan) and a Pakistani girl, Zaara (Preity Zinta) fall in love; but they can't pursue their relationship because of social and political impediments.

The song is played when Veer decides to defy conventionalisms and appear at her engagement party, to the astonishment of her fiancé and family members. Ironically, this happens as a group of singers hired for the ceremony sing "Your Lover Has Come to Your Doorstep", meaning literally Veer, an actual lover, rather than the fiancé.

The music was created by the legendary composer Madan Mohan and used posthumously. The lyrics were written by the poet and screenwriter Javed Akhtar.

The singers in the movie are an actual band , the "Hussain Brothers", led by Ahmed and Mohammed Hussain.
