تُمھیں دِل لگی
Your Amusement
00 :28
You will have forgotten about amusement [x2]
Sometime, start getting in love with someone and see
You will have forgotten about amusement
Sometime, start getting in love with someone and see
You will have forgotten about amusement [x2]
Sometime, start getting in love with someone and see
The world of your imagination is right here
Just come a little into my arms and see
02 :06
دیکھ کے مُجھے کیوں تُم دیکھتے نہیں
یارا ایسی بے رُخی، ہاں، سہی تو نہیں
رات دن جِسے مانگا تھا دُعاؤں میں
دیکھو غَور سے کہیں میں وُہی تو نہیں
Having seen me, why aren't you seeing me?
Friend, would such ruthlessness not exist, yeah!
He whom you asked for in (your) prayers, day and night
Look carefully, perchance I might be him
02 :34
میں وُہ رنگ ہوں جو چڑھ کے
کبھی چُھوٹے نہ
[both lines x2]
I'm that dye/color which, once set,
shall never fade
[both lines x2]
02 :48
تُمھیں پیار سے پیار ہونے لگے گا [x2]
میرے ساتھ شامیں بِتا کر تو دیکھو
تُمھیں دِل لگی بھول جانی پڑے گی
محبت کی راہوں میں آ کر تو دیکھو
You will start falling in love with being in love [x2]
Spend evenings with me, then see
You will have forgotten about amusement
Come into the roads of love and see
03 :33
تُمھیں دِل لگی بھول جانی پڑے گی [x2]
کبھی دِل کِسی سے لگا کر تو دیکھو
تمہارے خیالوں کی دُنیا یہی ہے
ذرا میری بانہوں  میں آ کر تو دیکھو
You will have forgotten about amusement [x2]
Sometime, start getting in love with someone and see
The world of your dreams is right here
Just walk a little into my arms and see
03 :57
تُمھیں دِل لگی بھول جانی پڑے گی
محبت کی راہوں میں آ کر تو دیکھو [x2]
You should forget the amusement
Just come into the roads of love and see [x2]
04 :17
تیرے لئے میں جیوں
تُجھ پہ ہی میں جان دوں
دِل کی کہوں
دِل کی سنوں
عشق ہے دِل لگی نہیں [x2]
I live for you
I give my life for you
I speak from the heart
I listen to the heart
It is love, not amusement [x2]
04 :31
تُمھیں دِل لگی بھول جانی پڑے گی
محبت کی راہوں میں آ کر تو دیکھو [x2]
You will have forgotten about amusement
Just come into the roads of love and see [x2]

Tumhe Dillagi (Hindi: तुम्हें दिल्लगी, Urdu: تُمھیں دِل لگی) is the title of several related artistic works:
  • the original ghazal written by the Indo-Pakistani Urdu poet Purnam Allahabadi
  • a qawwali sung by the famous Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, which adds several stanzas to the original
  • a simplified version, re-written by the Indian lyricist Manoj Muntashir, and made into its own video clip

The lyrics and video clip shown in this page belong to the 3rd version.

The video clip's music was arranged by the singer/composer duo Salim-Sulaiman, and the singer is Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

The Hindustani word dillagī used all across the song deserves some analysis.
It has the following translations: amusement, jest, joke, non-seriousness, and in the field of human relations: casual friendship, infatuation, lower inclination.
In general, it means an activity that is taken light-heartedly and without real commitment or sacrifice.
All those meanings of dillagī are more or less present in the song, but I traduce it as "amusement" for simplicity.

Similarly, the song's title tumhēṁ dillagī (literally: "you/to you - amusement"), would be an incomplete concept in Hindustani language. I just translate it as "Your Amusement" for simplicity.

The song speaks about a lover who claims that, once his beloved commits to a relationship with him, she will forget all lesser forms of love/amusement/infatuation/jest that she might have experienced before.

The phrase used for committing or falling in love with someone is another expression: dil kisī sē lagā or dil lagānā, which literally means "engaging one's heart with someone else".

The video clip is acted by the Indian actors Huma Qureshi and Vidyut Jamwal.
In the video, they represent a couple who has a quarrel because of one of them having to move to another city due to a job opportunity.
During the time they are estranged because of this disagreement, both of them remember the playful times when they met and then got together.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan makes a cameo appearance as himself, or as a qawwali singer, performing the song before them at some social event.
