Khwaja Mere Khwaja (Hindi: ख़्वाजा मेरे ख़्वाजा, Urdu: خواجہ میرے خواجہ) "Master, My Master", is a song from the 2008 Hindi historical drama film "Jodhaa Akbar".

The movie is about the marriage of the Mughal emperor Akbar the Great (played by the Indian actor Hrithik Roshan) and the Rajput princess Jodhaa, who is of Hindu religion (played by the Indian actress Aishwarya Rai).

In the video clip, a group of Sufis asks to sing in front of the emperor. The song they sing is essentially a praise to Moinuddin Chishti, a medieval Muslim saint highly venerated by the Sufis.
The song repeats several titles and epithets referred to Moinuddin:
  • xvājā or khwaja: Master, Lord
  • auliyā: saint
  • śāhōṁ kā śāh: "sha of shahs" or "king of kings"
  • 'alī kā dulārā: the darling of Ali
  • ġarīb-ē-navāz: benefactor of the needy
  • hiṁd-al-vālī: Wali or "patron saint" of India (or the whole Indian subcontinent)

While the Sufis perform, Princess Jodhaa, still saddened by this convenience marriage, cries surrounded by her retinue.

At some point during the song, the Sufis start their typical meditative whirling, and Akbar joins them and experiences himself some sort of epiphany, symbolized by the appearance of a vortex of sound and bright light.

This song was composed and sung by the consecrated Bollywood musician A.R. Rahman. The lyrics were written by Kashif Iqbal.
