نظر جو تیری لگی میں دیوانی ہو گئی
دیوانی ہاں دیوانی، دیوانی ہو گئی
مشہور میرے عِشْق کی کہانی ہو گئی
جو جگ نے نہ مانی تو میں نے بھی ٹھانی
کہاں تھی میں، دیکھو کہاں چلی آئی
کہتے ہیں یہ دیوانی
مستانی ہو گئی
(Your) gaze fell on mine, then (I) went crazy
crazy, yes, crazy, I went crazy
The tale of my love has become famous
I resolved to what the world would not accept
Look where I was, and where I've come:
It's said that this Mastani has gone crazy
(that this lover has became wanton)

سب نُور نُور سا بِکھرا ہے
اِک تُو ہی خیالوں میں اترا ہے
بَسْ جھوم، جھوم، جھوم، جھوم جاتا ہے دِل
تُو مستانی ہے،
تُو دیوانی ہے
پاکیزہ ہستی ہے تیری تُو نُورانی ہے!
سب نُور نُور سا بِکھرا ہے
اِک تُو ہی خیالوں میں اترا ہے
All (else) has scattered like light, like light
only you have surfaced in (my) thoughts
A sway, sway, sway is living in my heart
You’re frolic / Mastani
You’re crazy / in love
Your being is flawless, you are resplendent!
All (else) has scattered like light, like light
only you have landed in (my) thoughts

Deewani Mastani (Hindi: दीवानी मस्तानी, Urdu: دیوانی مستانی) is a song from the 2015 Indian period film Bajirao Mastani.

"Dewaani" is one of the Hindustani words for "lover", but more specifically it means "crazy, mad" (a lover is "crazy about someone").
"Mastani" is the name of the main female character of the film, but it is also an Hindustani word for "intoxicated, drunk, frolic, wanton" (literally by a substance, or by love, religious trance, et cetera).
Therefore the title of this song can be variously translated as "Crazy Mastani", "Carefree lover", "Mastani the Lover", and so on.

The film is a fictionalized account of the deeds of a very famous Marathi general called Bajirao (played by the Indian actor Ranveer Singh), and a Rajput princess called Mastani (played by the Indian actress Deepika Padukone).

The first stanzas of the song are in Marathi, to provide the proper ambiance, the rest in Hindustani.

The song's lyrics were written by the lyricist duo Siddharth-Garima. The Marathi part was written and interpreted by Ganesh Chandanshive.
The female voice belongs to the renowned Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, who was amply praised for her interpretation of this song.

Special thanks to my friend Amogh Mundhekar for his help with the Marathi lyrics!
