Thandi Hawa Kali Ghata (Hindi: ठंडी हवा, काली घटा, Urdu: ٹھنڈی ہوا, کالی گھٹا) "Cold Wind and Black Clouds", is a song from the 1955 Indian film "Mr. and Mrs. '55".
The song is about a girl who celebrates being in love.

The main female character in the movie, Anita (played by the Indian actress Madhubala) is infatuated with Ramesh, a famous tennis player.
When she learns that she is about to inherit a fortune, and that being married is a condition for her to inherit, she assumes that the best solution is to marry Ramesh immediately.

The song is played while she walks by a poolside where Ramesh is swimming at the moment, planning to elicit a marriage proposal from him.

The theme of clouds "raining affection" on a previously thirsty, parched lover is a constant in Hindustani poetry.
The word ghaṭā used in the title means "raincloud", but also a thick mass of dark clouds, so it can be translated as the plural "rainclouds".

All songs in the movie, including "Thandi Hawa Kali Ghata", were written by the Urdu poet and Bollywood lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri, and their music was composed by the Indian music director and composer O.P.Nayyar.

The playback singer is the famous Bollywood singer Geeta Dutt, who was also the wife of Guru Dutt, the movie protagonist and director.
