slowly, slowly in your name
Would I lose myself in such a way
that I can't ever be found again!
Now, I slowly, slowly
put my life in your custody
Beloved!
You became mine

Kindness, kindness

Sanam Re (Hindi: सनम रे, Urdu: صنم رے ) "Beloved!", "Oh, Beloved!" is a song from the 2016 homonym Bollywood romantic drama film.

The movie is about Akash, a man from a small and remote Himalayan village in India (played by the Indian actor and model Pulkit Samrat), who since his adolescence falls in love with a neighbor girl, Shruti (played by the Indian actress Yami Gautam).
Life separates Shruti and Akash, and when years later they meet again, she leaves him unexpectedly and for reasons unknown, claiming that they can't be together.

Aided by the beautiful Akansha, a business acquaintance who is very fond of him, Akash embarks in a quest back to his home town in order to find Shruti. Akansha also happens to be originally from the same village as Akash and Shruti. Her character is played by the Indian actress and model Urvashi Rautela.

In the video clip, Akash and Akansha are shown during her travels, against beautiful landscapes in beaches, deserts, and the Himalayas. The Himalayan theme is enhanced by the filming location chosen, the Northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, and by buildings, Tibetan signs, and children dressed in Buddhist robes.

At times, Akash and Akansha seem on the verge of developing intimacy, but constantly Akansha transfigurates into Shruti before Akash's eyes at the last moment.
In the end, after knocking on a village house door, Shruti opens the door and they seem to have finally found her, but it is just another of Akash's illusions: it turns out to be a different, older woman who doesn't know Shruti.

The song was authored by Mithoon (the Indian music director Mithun Sharma) who composed both the lyrics and the music. The singer is the acclaimed Indian singer Arijit Sing, with some choral accompaniment at the end of the song by the Bollywood vocalist Anirudh Bhola.
