Munni Badnaam Hui (Hindi:मुन्नी बदनाम हुई, Urdu: مُنّی بدنام ہوئی) "Munni Became Disgraced" or "Munni's Reputation Was Ruined" or "Was Defamed", is a song from the 2010 Bollywood film Dabangg.

The song is part of an "item number" starred by the dancer Malaika Arora (the "Munni" of the song).

The lyrics were written by Lalit Pandit, and they speak about a woman Munni, who supposedly becomes famous and coveted for the sake of her lover, but loses his good name in the process.

During the course of the song, she alludes to two famous actors who are supposedly after her: Saif Ali Khan (called "Saifu" in the song) and Amitabh Bachchan (called "Lombu" in the song, because the is tall).
While she sings this, two lookalikes of these two actors look at her lubriciously.

She also compares herself in favorable terms with the actress Kareena Kapoor (called "Bebo" in the song, a known nickname of Kapoor's), and with Shilpa Shetty, another celebrity and former model.

In the lyrics there are numerous puns with the word ām, which means "mango fruit", but also means "something common or general". At some point of the song, it might also refer to Munni's breasts.

While the song is played, Munni dances for the movie's main villain, Chedi, a corrupt political leader (played by Sonu Sood).

At some point, the police , led by Officer Chulbul, the movie protagonist (played by Salman Khan) raids the place.
instead of stopping the party, Chulbul joins the singing and dancing, gaining the attention of Munni much to the chagrin of Chedi.

The song became a success in itself, in addition to the movie's great success. It competed with other "item songs" released that 2010 year and it received awards to best song, best singer and best composer.

Also, sequels and references to the song were made at Dabangg's sequels, Dabangg II and Dabangg III

The singers are Mamta Sharma for the female parts, and Aishwarya Nigam for the shorter male parts.

The song's music (in addition to the lyrics) was also composed by Lalit Pandit, who won several awards for it.
