mat
Please Don’t Go
00 :11
dūr talak haiṁ sūnā falak
ab ḍhūm̐ḍhēṁ tujhkō kahām̐ hai?
 hai kidhar na āē nazar,
ā sun  yah iltijā
The horizon is empty until far away
now I shall search it for you, where is it?
Where are you, (that) you don't come in sight?
Come, listen to this supplication:
00 :22
mat   mat  [x4]
tērī kamī hai sām̐sēṁ thamī haiṁ,
tanhā hai dil mērā
Don’t go, please don’t go
Wherever you are absent, my breaths have stopped
My heart is lonely …
01 :10
yah kaun  riśtā haiṁ,
mērī ām̐khōṁ  ristā haiṁ
[both lines x2]
 dil  pāṭōṁ mēṁ
yah baṭtā haiṁ pistā haiṁ
[both lines x2]
zid  bas dil
apnē  aisē na jhuṭlā
What sort of relationship is this?
it is tricking from my eyes!
[both lines x2]
In between the millstones of two hearts,
it is being divided and ground
[both lines x2]
Just out of stubbonness
do not belie your own heart
01 :39
mat   mat  [x4]
tērī kamī hai sām̐sēṁ thamī haiṁ,
tanhā hai dil mērā
Don’t go, please don’t go
Wherever you are absent, my breaths have stopped
My heart is lonely …
02 :09
dil iśq  biṁdhā hai,
ēk ziddī pariṁdā hai
[both lines x2]
ummīdōṁ  hai ghāyal,
ummīd  ziṁdā haiṁ
[both lines x2]
ās bharī ardās
 aisē na ṭhukrā
The heart is pierced/bound with love,
it is like a stubborn bird
[both lines x2]
It is wounded by hope
but alive based on love
[both lines x2]
My plea is full of aspiration,
don't reject it like this
02 :39
mat   mat  [x4]
tērī kamī hai sām̐sēṁ thamī haiṁ,
tanhā hai dil mērā
Don’t go, please don’t go
Wherever you are absent, my breaths have stopped
My heart is lonely …
