hōnā haiṁ tujhmēṁ fanā
If the moon were interceding for me
it would tell you this:
having dropped the veil of modesty
you must do mischief to me.
Now (my) obstinacy is to efface myself
and be extinguished in you

cām̐d sifāriś  kartā hamārī

Your elasticity is like a twig,
let it come down into my heart!
Make an excuse and come into my arms,
I must be extinguished in you

Chand Sifarish (Hindi: चाँद सिफ़ारिश, Urdu: چاند سِفارِش) is a song from the 2006 Hindi romantic drama "Fanaa"
The title comes from a verse that goes: "cām̐d sifāriś jō kartā hamārī", meaning "If the moon spoke for me" or "If the moon were interceding on my behalf".
The song's title can be translated as "Moon Intercession" or "Moon advice" (the lover is guessing what would happen in the moon spoke to his beloved on his behalf).

The video clip reproduces movie scenes where a tourist guide called Rehan (the Indian actor Aamir Khan) accompanies a group of women throughout several famous Indian touristic destinations, such as Humayun's Tomb and the Qutub Minar.

One of the women, Zony (played by the Indian actress Kajol) is blind, but she can still appreciate ancient buildings and carvings though her tact.

Rehan is in love with her and courts her with his singing, during these outings, grazing her and urging her to overcome her shyness, while Zony is impressed but still reluctant.

In some scenes, a Rehan's fellow tourist guide Balwant (played by the Indian comedic actor Vrajesh Hirjee) does some mock singing.

The song was sung by the Indian playback singers Shantanu Mukherjee (a.k.a "Shaan") and Kailash Kher.
The lyrics were written by the Indian poet, lyricist, and screenwriter Prasoon Joshi.
The music was composed by the Indian director/composer duo of brothers Jatin–Lalit.
