Tread Gently, Oh, Moist Breeze!
00 :11
[movie dialog]
[movie dialog]
the last moments of my life
00 :36
[all stanza x2]
Tread gently, gently, oh, moist breeze
for the sleep of my nightingale is young
so that no one's evil eye be cast on her
for she is unaware, involved in sweet dreams
[all stanza x2]
So tread gently, gently, oh moist breeze
so tread gently …
01 :19
One side is her face, the other, her long hairs
Where is my whole sense in this springtime?
in this springtime …
01 :30
Tell the flowerbuds not to crack today
the champa bud has slept in wait
in wait …
01 :38
Come on, oh!
How much is the loveliness!
Rapture is so pervading!
Alas, my helplessness!
01 :50
[all stanza x2]
So tread gently, gently, oh, moist breeze
for the sleep of my nightingale is young
so that no one's evil eye be cast on her
for she is unaware, involved in sweet dreams
[all stanza x2]
So tread gently, gently, oh moist breeze
so tread gently …
02 :22
The blackbee of love is telling you
to never sing any any melody in such an ambiance
never sing …
02 :33
Let the stream of sleep not be broken
I promise to you not to make any noise
not to make noise …
02 :41
Hey, ho! Big clouds
have stood in guard!
What should (my) heart do?
02 :53
So tread gently, gently, oh, moist breeze
for the sleep of my nightingale is young
so that no one's evil eye be cast on her
for she is unaware, involved in sweet dreams
So tread gently, gently, oh moist breeze
so tread gently …
03 :25
Waves are stopped, branches are bowed
How can make some instruments of the heart be heard?
The instruments of the heart …
03 :35
When she wakes up, destiny will wake up
Then I will say the secrets of my heart
The secrets of my heart …
03 :44
Hey, ho! I will kiss the sky!
Without drinking, I shall sway
Give my heart to that look!
03 :56
[all stanza x2]
So tread gently, gently, oh, moist breeze
for the sleep of my nightingale is young
so that no one's evil eye be cast on her
for she is unaware, involved in sweet dreams
[all stanza x2]
So tread gently, gently, oh moist breeze
so tread gently …

Dheere Chal Ae Bheegi Hawa (Hindi:धीरे चल ऐ भीगी हवा, Urdu: دِھیرے چل اے بھیگی ہوا) "Tread Gently, Oh, Moist Breeze" is a song from the 1961 Bollywood film "Boy Friend".

The song's lyrics were written by the poet Hasrat Jaipuri, and the music was composed by Shankar–Jaikishan.

In the movie, the song is played when the male protagonist, Shyam (played by Shammi Kapoor), finds the female protagonist, Sangita (Madhubala), who pretends to be asleep.

Shyam then sings and dances (with moves that resemble Elvis Preysler's), asking the different elements of nature not to disturb his beloved's sleep.

The playback singer is Mohammed Rafi.

Special thanks to Professor Javaid Azim for his help with the transcription and translation!
